WHO WE ARE
We, at Truthful Hope, are a nonprofit apologetics ministry that aims to provide strong reasons for having faith (trusting) in Christianity, which in turn serves as the foundation for being confident in the Christian hope. Our content covers a wide range of topics including; apologetics, philosophy, theology, and science to offer a deeper understanding of the truth of Christianity.
Scripture differentiates between faith and hope in 1 Corinthians 13:13: "Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." Biblical faith is trusting in what we have good reasons to believe, and the Christian hope is built on the foundation of faith.
Hope is a confident expectation that stems from faith. It's assurance in something that hasn’t happened yet (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is grounded in the reality of the past; hope is looking to the reality of the future. Without faith, there is no hope, and without hope there is no true faith. Christians are people of faith and hope. As Christians, we have, “The hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time” (Titus 1:2).
In a world that seems to have grown increasingly hopeless, our goal is to provide strong reasons for trusting in the life-giving Christian hope.
What is
Apologetics?
Apologetics is the defense of something – as in a court of law. At Truthful Hope, we are a Christian Apologetics ministry because we seek to defend the Christian faith. The foundational verse for apologetics is 1 Peter 3:15. The word "defense" in the original Greek language it was written in is "apologia," which is where "Apologetics" comes from.
Here, at Truthful Hope, we've created The Apologetics Sandwich, a helpful method for remembering this verse and using apologetics correctly. Have you ever eaten a sandwich without the top, bottom, or both pieces of bread? It's not a pleasant experience! The top and bottom pieces of bread of our apologetics sandwich are essential for keeping it all together. They are also vital for getting the most enjoyment out of the middle part of the sandwich.
While it may be easy to overlook the top and bottom pieces of bread of our apologetics sandwich when reading 1 Peter 3:15, we cannot most efficiently use Christian Apologetics without them. By honoring Christ our Lord and approaching people with gentleness & respect, we can most effectively defend the Christian faith.
